Barbecue Tour 2009...Kansas City

Flew into Denver this morning and immediately started east for Kansas City. Here's the deal with Kansas... it is incredibly flat and boring. The highlight being a wind farm we passed somewhere in the middle of the nothingness. First stop on the tour (other than the BBQ chips I had with my Subway outside of Denver) Gates BBQ. Pretty good ribs for 10pm on a Sunday night. Sauce had a spicey kick to it and it was balanced with a sweet twang. Everyone agreed it was a great start to the tour.

Next stop Pappy's Smokehouse in St. Louis.

Bubble Wrap Snead

I've been thinking about this for quite a while now. Considering all the hype and what not. Everyone I talk to mentions Jevan Snead in the first few sentences concerning the coming football season. My reaction or course is to crack a wry smile and refer to our track record in the past and remind myself that we play in the toughest league in the land. Nutt did a great job of getting our team to believe they could win last year... I think it may take a little longer for the fan base... at least for me. Too many stinging memories to overcome. Anyway, here is what I hope Jevan is sporting these days.

I hope he can handle the Mississippi hype and humidity until September

Barbecue Tour 2009

Been quite a while since I have posted anything on this here blog. As a matter of fact, I think it was just before last year's Egg Bowl... where if memory serves correctly there was a systematic destruction of the fellas from Starkville. Anyway, there has been quite a bit of hype about the year's football team. Heisman talk... SEC championships... BCS bowl games... While we are excited about the coming season, we can't help but be haunted by seasons past. We're heading out this weekend for a cross country road trip from Denver back to Atlanta. What better way to spend the time than eating and digesting BBQ the entire way? We're gonna try to hit all the majors and finally but all "we have the best BBQ" discussion to rest when we finally saunter into Central or Interstate in Memphis. It should look something like this....
